You’ve read the blogs, you’ve followed the progress of the crop through the pictures, you’ve been salivating all year waiting for the fresh stuff to be available … OK! It’s READY!

Check out the available varieties at Garlic Varieties 2008. Also check out our special packaging this year!

These small, unsuspecting burlap bags are both natural and breathable, perfect for storing small quantities (up to about 1 lb.) of garlic. Bags measure approx. 5″ x 7.

The black paper bag discretely holds larger bulbs; no one needs to see how much (unless you want to disclose its contents). Garlic has been used to ward of vampires and other evil spirits since ancient times. Don’t be caught without!

Can’t decide what kind to get? Try a variety 6-pack! These hold a half dozen smaller bulbs (about 8 oz. or more) - just right for trying a small quantity of different varieties. (And yes! Our garlic is grown Cage-Free!)

Gentle elegant elephants: We think elephant garlic gets a bad rap. True, it’s not really garlic. True, it has many of the same properties. Elephant garlic is to garlic as leeks are to onions. They are mild, subtle, sweet. The sugars carmelize when roasted. They are wonderful raw, steamed, sauteed, spread on fresh toast, and whipped up in mashed potatoes. They give new meaning to the phrase, “There’s no such thing as a little garlic!” Try them again. Appreciate them for what they are - an entity unto themselves.

Grab bags: Maybe you are one of those who love garlic - can’t get enough of it - but don’t really care what variety it is or what shape it’s in [it's all good]. Grab bags are an economical way to get your fill of the good stuff at a bargain price. These are smaller or slightly over-mature bulbs - not the prettiest, but still excellent eating! (while they last).

TIPS TO REMEMBER:

  • Hardneck varieties are, in general, more strongly flavored than the softnecks; however, softnecks last longer. So if you buy hardnecks, eat them first.
  • Don’t cook garlic (especially delicate elephant garlic) at too high a heat as it can quickly turn bitter. Cooking mellows the flavor (raw garlic is the most potent!).
  • Garlic is best stored at cool temperatures away from humidity. For long-term storage, do not store in the refrigerator, as it will encourage sprouting.

And most importantly …

Eat garlic! Eat LOTS of it!
