New at the Barbolian Fields Farm Store
If you are interested in a natural beekeeping approach that allows the “bees to be bees,” the Warre hives just may be the answer.
Now you can purchase aprons, shirts, hats, ties, towels, magnets, tiles, jars, cards, puzzles, and just about everything you can think of – featuring our vampire mascott & his batty friend and photographs (by yours truly) of garlic (of course!), the garden, and assorted wanderings (it’s what I do).

from: Chelsea Green Publishing
An amazing book! Click the link above to buy from Chelsea Green – or go to the Bookstore for a quick link to Amazon. (Update – I am still reading this book! SO much info! A great reference and worth the price.)
Chelsea Green Publishing
Chelsea Green Publishing – the leading publisher of sustainable living books since 1985.
Ok – sure – you *might* be able to get it cheaper through Amazon (not always though! Check Chesea’s sales!) – BUT – if you are in a position to be able to support a smaller business that emphasizes ethics, a free-thinking humanitarian society, sustainability, homegrown goodness, and making this planet a better place – then please consider ordering through Chelsea Green!
Weather – What’s Going On Out There?
Survived the 80-degree heatwave! Now we’re back to our normal wind & rain. Plants, bees, me … we’re all having adjustment issues!

About Barbolian Fields
Barbolian Fields is located just outside of Sequim, WA. Our main crop is garlic. We are still growing 24 varieties; however, we have cut back drastically on the number of bulbs to make more room for assorted fruits & berries, herbs, veggies, & wildlife plants. We are in the process of transforming our garden into more of a permaculture food forest. Every year, the garden gets more and more dense! The biomass is incredible! We’re working at being more self-sufficient, handcrafting things ourselves, living simply, and making do. Sometimes I serenade things with a little harmonica. Thanks for tuning in!
